Flash Player doesn't work with Kaltura CE 12.4.0 release

Aside from the Authentication issue with the new release of Kaltura CE 12.4.0. I can confirm that the player does not working properly with my Live Streams with any Flash enable browser. Right now I can only playback a LIVE streams using my iOS based browsers.

Here is a copy of the Kaltlog message I get when trying to view the player in FireFox, Opera, and Chrome.

Hi,

The current player [v2.48.1] should no longer require Flash and uses HLS.JS to playback HLS.
The errors attached in your log are related to an attempt to make calls to the ‘analytics’ and liveStats APIs, which are indeed missing from the current CE but that should not cause any playback issues.
In order to debug, it would be useful if you can provide a URL to an embedded player. In the event it cannot be accessed from the world, I suggest you open your browser’s devtools. hit play and check both the “Console” and “Network” tabs for errors. In the Console tab, you should also see the exact player version, which I assume is v2.48.1 since you’re running 12.4.0.

@jess

I am not able to login the admin console yet because of the issue in ticket:

Once I resolve that issue I can dig deeper in this issue by checking the player versions and settings in the admin console.

Where do I check and update the player version being used? My Web Console in my browsers with this issue should an HTML5 player version 2.5 and are displaying a mixed content error forcing the browser to block unsecure data on an unsecure page.

This is caused by various reasons on my end but mainly because my Kaltura CE is setup as secure and the embed because it is used on an WordPress based site is forced to use secure embeds. I will attempt to re-embed the code without it being secure.

However, this might not be an issue if I can update the player to the stable version mention. I checked the system for all version of the player installed. here is what was return after my upgrade.

[root@myServer ~]# locate mwEmbedLoader.php
/opt/kaltura/web/html5/html5lib/v2.14/mwEmbedLoader.php
/opt/kaltura/web/html5/html5lib/v2.37/mwEmbedLoader.php
/opt/kaltura/web/html5/html5lib/v2.37.1/mwEmbedLoader.php
/opt/kaltura/web/html5/html5lib/v2.38.3/mwEmbedLoader.php
/opt/kaltura/web/html5/html5lib/v2.42/mwEmbedLoader.php
/opt/kaltura/web/html5/html5lib/v2.44/mwEmbedLoader.php
/opt/kaltura/web/html5/html5lib/v2.45/mwEmbedLoader.php
/opt/kaltura/web/html5/html5lib/v2.45.1/mwEmbedLoader.php
/opt/kaltura/web/html5/html5lib/v2.46/mwEmbedLoader.php
/opt/kaltura/web/html5/html5lib/v2.50/mwEmbedLoader.php

I do not have the version you mention on this host.

Hi @hiphopservers,

That’s because the version mentioned was correct for 12.4.0 and you’re now at 12.5.0, the latest version is v2.50.
You can see the version in the console tab of your browser’s dev tools. All players are auto upgraded to the latest version when you upgrade the kaltura-html5lib package.

Do to the mature nature of my application I will forward you the link to the site with issue via my email reply which has more system specific detail. The flash player is not working in Firefox, Opera, and Chrome. The HTML5 player works on mobile devices and Safari. So basically no one with a Windows or Flash enabled browser can view the site from a desktop.

With the new HTML5 player v2.50 I have the following issue - Auto- or Iframe- embedded - once user clicks Play button, the video does not start and spinner just rotates, unless user manually selects the video resolution - then the video starts playing. I checked JS Console and Network tabs in browser developer tools and there are no issues. Kaltlog just states
Action “trackevent” does not exists for service “analytics”’ in /opt/kaltura/app/api_v3/lib/KalturaDispatcher.php:57
which you said can be ignored.

When Thumbnail-embedded, things seems all right. I can not resolve this issue with my current moderate knowledge in Kaltura CE.

Hello,

Please make sure you create a HTML5 player by going to KMC->Studio since the Flash player are legacy and are no longer supported.
Once you’ve done that, if there are still issues, please provide a URL where the player is embedded. You can do that by going to KMC, select an entry and in the “Actions” select box choose “Preview & Embed”, in the new screen that will open, you’ll see a link under the label “View a standalone page with this player”.

I am still not able to get the current player to work with live streams from Wowza current version. It seem a bit more complicated than describe to resolve the issue with the hadoff to the new player from Wowza. Then as described in my other post my application of streaming is not a straight forward setup on the new version of Kaltura CE with Ngnix streaming.
