Kaltura log analysis

Hello Kaltura experts,

Is there a way to import Kaltura logs generated from another Kaltura machine A, to current Kaltura machine B? And the purpose is analyzing Kaltura logs from Kaltura machine A on Kaltura machine B (so that analyzing does not impact production system).

Kaltura machine A, production box. Kaltura machine B, for analytics purpose only. Both boxes are single Kaltura clusters.

BTW, for permission control purpose, cannot install a single Kaltura cluster, within which making a dedicated machine for analytics purpose only.

thanks in advance,
Lin

Hi Lin,

You can install the kaltura-dwh package on another machine and run analytics from there. You will need to mount /opt/kaltura/web onto it so it has access to /opt/kaltura/web/logs and of course, when promoted for DB provide the one your production ENV uses.

Thanks Jess,

Why copy log from one cluster to another does not work?

Lin

Because the partner, entry and many other IDs are different.

Thanks Jess,

When you mention, “when promoted for DB provide the one your production ENV uses”, what do you mean by promoted for DB?

Lin

When you install kaltura-dwh, the post install scripts asks what DB to connect it to.

Thanks Jess,

Is there a document about how to install kaltura-dwh package alone?

BTW, Jess, here is another similar question about Kaltura log analysis (Kaltura log recording video play), if you could comment, it will be great.

Lin
