Do you have to install full server/backend just to use the player?

Hello,

I’m new to Kaltura, and I’m trying to figure out whether I need the full server if I just want the CE player. We have in-house video production and use Cloudfront for distribution, so we don’t need those features. We do want the ability to use the embedded quizzes, however. I would prefer not to have to install things that I won’t use.

Hello,

The display of the quiz is implemented as a player plugin, however, in order for it to work, the Kaltura server is needed as that plugin makes API calls to load the quizzes and update the results, etc.
In addition, while since our Core is FOSS and you can make whatever applications you’d like by making API calls to the server, if you also want a ready made UI for creating quizzes, you will need to purchase Kaltura Media Space.
